Forgiveness Then Change (John 8:11)

-Pastor Don

God never ceases to amaze me with people’s objections to not trusting in Jesus Christ as their King and Savior.

Recently, I was reminded of a lady in my previous church whom I counseled with for over a year about the decision to place her faith in Christ.   Her biggest obstacle was her faulty thinking that she must first change her life to meet a certain standard before she could enter into a personal relationship with Jesus.

Maybe you have struggled with this issue, as well.

The good news is that Jesus teaches the opposite in John 8:11,

Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

Here, Jesus instructs the adulterous woman to go and change.  Note the order.

First, Jesus opens the floodgates of forgiveness on her life.
Second, Jesus commands her to change.

Let us make sure we are never guilty of saying to the unchurched, “Change yourself and then we will accept you.”

Let’s keep it to Jesus’ order, not ours.
