College Acres Serving Rachel Freeman

Author: Don Brown, Posted: 11/04/09

College Acres had great sucess in serving the elementary kids at our adopted school, Rachel Freeman School of Engineering.  As you may or may not know, Rachel Freeman is located on Princess Place Drive and their students are largely low income.

The school allowed us to serve them by having a Trunk-R-Treat in the school parking lot last Thursday, October 29th.  This was a great chance for us to put our faith in action and provide a fun context for the children and their families.

We had 20 trunks, Fire Truck, handed out 10,000 pieces of candy, 1,000 prizes, 300 glow in dark bracelets, 270 cupcakes, 500 French's hotdogs, along with balloon hats and swords, hand painting, hundreds of Chick-Fil-A stuffed cows, and much more.  It was a blast and the school were overwhelmed by our church's generosity.

What an awesome open door God opened for us to show that we are here to serve them rather than be served.  Praise be the our Lord that we were able to introduce ourselves to the children and their families, as well as, build relationships to share the love of Christ.
