College Acres Serving the "Quintiles Wrightsville Beach Marathon"

Our church has a great opportunity to BE THE CHURCH on Sunday, March 20th.

We have accepted the inviation to send hundreds of volunteers to help with the Marathon where over 2,500 runners will be a part. We are encouraging every one to be a part.  There are volunteer options for ALL ages. For all volunteers there will be a Volunteer Dinner on Thursday, March 17th at Shell Island Resort where you will receive your "t-shirt", final instructions, etc. RSVP is required.

Here are some different ways you can volunteer:

1.  5-7:00 am. Starting Line Volunteers - help check in runners, give them goodie bags, their race number, etc. then clean up your area and you can go home

2. 7- Noon -  Directional Volunteers, Aid station volunteers are needed at different locations along the route.  The direction volunteers tell the runners where to turn the aid station volunteers give out water and snacks.

3. 7:45 a.m - until - Need volunteers for Finish Line. Rotate volunteers in and out of this position as medals are handed out as runners finish.

4. 10 - 1 p.m. - Need strong volunteers to ride in back of a u-haul and break-down the aid stations and collect the trash bags.

5. Elder volunteers and families with kids are invited to cheer along Windemere. There is a "turn around" (where the runners have to run around a small cone to head back) on Windemere. That is where I'm placing all of you. I want the kids to have cow bells, bells, signs, etc... to make that a high energy location. It is extremely close to Pastor Andy's house as well, so the kids may have somewhere to go if needed. I want this to be a fun spot!!

Landfall Foundation Mission: The Landfall Foundation was formed to support Wilmington charities. It has allowed the Landfall community an opportunity to make a valuable contribution to our city by distributing grants to smaller organizations that are often under funded. Although small, these local charities and causes meet broad and vital community needs.
Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation Mission:
The MMRF relentlessly pursues innovative means that accelerate the development of next-generation multiple myeloma treatments to extend the lives of patients and lead to a cure.
